Yen Soto
Alpine Snowboard | Skeleton | SVB | SwimmingMarine Corps athlete Yen Soto has dedicated 19 years to service, overcoming significant knee injuries sustained during bootcamp and various training programs. Despite the pain, she persevered through her duties, eventually undergoing bi-lateral partial knee replacements in 2022. Complications arose following the second surgery, leading to severe swelling and pain in her right knee, which required multiple hospital visits. While serving as the 1st Marine Division Adjutant, managing 25 units, Yen faced challenges in recovering properly due to the demands of her role. In May 2023, she was transferred to the Wounded Warrior Battalion, where participation in Warrior Athlete Conditioning Events has been a pivotal part of her recovery journey. These events have not only improved her physical health but have also greatly enhanced her mental well-being. Outside of recovery, Yen enjoys outdoor activities like hiking, cycling, and spending time with her family on new adventures.
What does the Invictus Games mean to you?
Invictus is an opportunity for me to build my confidence and work on training for something I can do while rehabilitating. I never expected a chance to compete at any level, this is an amazing experience and so thankful to have been selected to represent Team U.S.
