Terry Scaife
Alpine Ski | Indoor Rowing | Skeleton | Swimming | Wheelchair CurlingSenior Chief Terry Scaife has dedicated 24 years to service in the U.S. Navy, deploying eight times to combat theaters. The intensity of those experiences led to the development of PTSD, which caused him to withdraw from others, affecting both his mental and physical health, as well as his relationships with family and friends.
Through adaptive sports, Terry found a path to healing. Connecting with others facing similar challenges helped him break out of isolation and rebuild his sense of community. These experiences have not only improved his well-being but also introduced him to lasting friendships with people who understand his struggles. Now, he draws strength from this network of like-minded individuals, sharing advice, support, and strategies for recovery.
What does the Invictus Games mean to you?
Competing in Invictus has been a goal of mine since I first heard of it in 2019. Now actually being an athlete for Team US all these years later is a dream come true. The pinnacle of my recovery and something I know will stay with me forever.
