Michael Harrold
Alpine Ski | Swimming | WCRIn November 2022, Michael Harrold was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Despite the daunting news, he chose an aggressive approach to treatment and found joy in the challenge. Supported by his family, including his son who gave him the nickname “Single Jingle,” Michael resolved to fight with humor and positivity. After undergoing surgery, he began four rounds of chemotherapy, often showing up with a fresh dad joke to keep his spirits high. On April 16, 2023, he proudly rang the bell, signifying the end of chemo, but his journey wasn’t over. In the months following treatment, Michael battled neuropathy in his hands and feet, making exercise difficult. However, through physical therapy and the support of the Warrior Athlete Recovery Program (WAR-P), he regained his strength and motivation. A lifelong soccer player and runner, Michael also enjoys scuba diving and training his therapy dog. Most importantly, he cherishes his role as a father and husband, finding joy in every day with his family.

Invictus means a chance to test my mettle and might; a chance to push myself, individually and with fellow brothers and sisters that have shared in my struggles. Invictus means redemption.
