Justin Chase
Cross Country Ski | Indoor Rowing | SVB | SwimmingLieutenant Justin Chase first enlisted in the Coast Guard as an aviation maintenance technician and served for 12 years before earning his commission. He served as an officer for the past seven years. With his wife of 19 years, he’s raising twin daughters and enjoys staying active and playing sports with them.
In the course of his career, he had two operational mishaps that led to chronic back and shoulder issues that limited his ability to enjoy staying as active as before. Recently, he was diagnosed with multiple traumatic brain injuries (TBI), which led to some depression and anxiety.
Once he began adaptive sports, he found a new sense of purpose. A competitive person, Chase relished the opportunity to join a team environment. He has long enjoyed hiking and biking. Through adaptive sports, he learned that making adjustments allowed him to continue participating even with his medical history.
