Jacquelyn Marty
Alpine Ski | Indoor Rowing | Skeleton | SwimmingJacquelyn Marty commissioned in the Air Force in 1990 following graduation from the U.S. Air Force Academy. She spent her first 9 1/2 years on active duty then transitioned to the Reserves where she has served since 2000. In 2015, Marty was involved in a motor vehicle accident that left her with a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Since then though she has continued to maintain a healthy lifestyle, competing in multiple triathlons. She was able to return to duty with the support of her leadership, including the commander of Air Force Global Strike Command. Since joining AFW2, it was not just the personal successes that motivated her, it was the success of those around her that really got to her. She said, “While competing at the AF TrialsI noticed there are an abundance of phenomenal Airmen who’ve overcome far greater obstacles than I have; they are my inspiration. My pity party ended when I was selected for the Warrior Games team.”
What does the Invictus Games mean to you?
Competing for Team U.S. at the Invictus Games represents overcoming devastating personal, physical and mental challenges. Training has improved my mind, body and emotions. I want to push my limits, find myself again and ultimately inspire others. The competition is the culmination of hard work, defining my new normal and trusting our amazing, world-class coaches to push my boundaries beyond my self-limiting beliefs to achieve unfathomable results.
