Adam Foutz, originally from Girard, Ohio, and now residing in Fredericksburg, Virginia, medically retired from the Marine Corps in 2015 after over nine years of active service. Following his retirement, he was offered a role as a consultant for the Office of Warrior Care Policy, overseeing the Recovery Care Programs for wounded, ill, and injured service members, including the Military Adaptive Sports Program (MASP). Inspired by MASP, Adam turned to adaptive sports to aid in his own recovery, with the goal of educating others about its benefits. Since then, he has competed in various adaptive sports challenges and competitions with the United States Marine Corps, Special Operations Command (SOCOM), and organizations like SportAble and the National Abilities Center. Adam will be participating in his first-ever Invictus Games, nearly a decade into his recovery journey, and is deeply grateful for the role adaptive sports have played in his healing. He is honored to represent Team US and hopes to inspire others on their recovery paths.

What does the Invictus Games mean to you?

Invictus Games to me means an Unconquerable Spirit, it’s what allows us to win our battles in the military, and what has prepared me to overcome my own personal battles and health issues. Being a part of Team US is an honor and I’m grateful to represent my community and my nation in a new way.
